  • Dr Jonathan Hyer is a highly skilled and dedicated ophthalmologist specialising in oculoplastic and cataract surgery, with comprehensive training across internationally recognised centres in London and Melbourne.

  • He completed seven-year specialist registrar training at the world-leading Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, serving as Chief Resident and later as a Consultant in the Ophthalmic Emergency Department. He subsequently undertook advanced oculoplastic fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital, the Craniofacial Trauma Unit at the Royal London Hospital, and the Orbit, Plastic and Lacrimal (OPAL) Unit at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.

  • Dr Hyer is a Consultant at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, working across the OPAL Unit, Surgical Ophthalmology Service (Cataract, Pterygium and Ocular trauma) and Emergency Department. He also works at the Alfred Hospital, performing cataract and oculoplastic surgery with a focus on complex and high-risk cases. His oculoplastic practice includes aesthetic eyelid and periocular surgery, emphasising natural restoration through tailored solutions and careful attention to symmetry, function and facial anatomy.

  • He is actively involved in research at the Centre for Eye Research Australia and maintains an academic profile with international presentations, publications and multiple awards. Before medicine, he worked as a freelance graphic designer and lecturer at the University for the Creative Arts. That experience continues to shape his interest in healthcare innovation, medical education, and the intersection between surgery and art. Dr Hyer brings a considered, patient-first approach to every aspect of his practice.
