Dr Alp Atik is an Australian-trained Cataract and Glaucoma Specialist. He completed his medical training at the University of Newcastle, graduating ‘with distinction’. He also completed a Bachelor of Medical Science, receiving first class honours and the University White Prize in Physiology. He has also completed a Master of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) through the University of Sydney and a Masters of Public Health at Harvard University.
Dr Atik completed his ophthalmology training and Glaucoma Fellowship at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, with an honorary appointment at the Centre for Eye Research Australia, affiliated with the University of Melbourne. He also manages a wide range of other eye conditions such as uveitis, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, pterygium and eyelid conditions.
Dr Atik believes in holistic, patient-centred care. He ensures patients are well informed regarding their treatment options and have all their questions and concerns addressed at every appointment.
He has published extensively in international scientific journals and received the prestigious Australian Government Endeavour Scholarship for his Research Fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He continues to collaborate with researchers from around the world.
Dr Atik has been involved in the teaching of medical students and ophthalmology trainees in Melbourne. He has also performed volunteer work with the International Council of Ophthalmology in South-East Asia.
He is fluent in English and Turkish.
