Dr Lana del Porto is a Melbourne based ophthalmologist specialising in cataract, squint (strabismus), paediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology and general ophthalmology including macular degeneration.
Dr del Porto completed her medical degree at The University of Sydney, graduating with honours. She completed her ophthalmology training at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne and subsequently undertook fellowship training at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Dr del Porto completed fellowships in neuro-ophthalmology, strabismus and paediatrics while undertaking research in optic neuritis and thyroid eye disease.
Dr del Porto works as a staff specialist at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in the cataract, strabismus and neuro-ophthalmology clinics. She teaches cataract and squint surgery to the training registrars and fellows. She has been an invited speaker at international scientific meetings and has publications in the medical literature. Lana is dedicated to providing the very best care for her patients.
Dr del Porto is a fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
Her clinical interests include:
- cataract surgery (adults and children)
- squint surgery (strabismus) including thyroid eye disease
- macular degeneration including injection treatment and monitoring
- neuro-ophthalmology; double vision and nerve palsies, botox treatment for blepharospasm/hemifacial spasm and optic nerve diseases
